Description

  • Analyze merchant applications by reviewing risk scores, products, and policies.
  • Investigate high-risk merchant account activity to reduce fraud and reputational loss.
  • Monitor existing merchant partners for behaviors that could negatively impact Sezzle or its customers.
  • Decline unsuitable merchants during the application process.
  • Write and execute MySQL queries to analyze merchant data and performance metrics.
  • Assess merchant reputational risk using customer NPS reviews.
  • Coordinate between Merchant Success, Support, and other teams to refine approval processes.
  • Serve as a mediator on merchant risk issues and provide guidance on risk tolerance and policy.
  • Improve the merchant fraud detection framework to identify fraud more effectively.
  • Analyze and recommend ways to streamline and automate merchant approval processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in risk management, fraud, or financial crime prevention operations.
  • Experience analyzing data and making decisions in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
  • Work experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong business judgment and communication skills.
  • Ability to self-start and work with minimal supervision after training.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Claude or equivalent large language model tools is required.
  • 2+ years of real-world analytical experience in merchant/business fraud or credit risk management, fraud, or financial crime prevention operations in e-commerce, banking, fintech, or financial institutions is preferred.
  • Ability to start within two weeks of receiving an offer is preferred.
