Description

  • Modify, diagnose, and maintain the Python HTTP backend built on Tornado and backed by DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, and Redis.
  • Contribute to the infrastructure-as-code repository used to provision AWS resources.
  • Reason about distributed systems to support strong technical decision-making.
  • Own technical work from initial conception through implementation, production monitoring, and alerting.
  • Share best practices for code authoring, tooling, and observability with other engineering teams.
  • Help ensure the security and reliability of the platform by identifying vulnerabilities and performance bottlenecks.
  • Optimize cloud infrastructure for cost-effectiveness and efficient resource management.
  • Help shape the technical roadmap and engineering culture through design proposals and industry engagement.
  • Partner with senior engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to drive strategic infrastructure initiatives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of backend development experience.
  • Strong systems-level thinking and deep understanding of distributed systems concepts such as eventual consistency, fan-in/fan-out patterns, and backpressure.
  • Familiarity with AWS core services such as EC2, Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, and ECS/EKS, or similar cloud experience.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitHub Actions.
  • Ability to execute independently as a self-starter, knowing when to seek information and when to move forward with confidence.
  • Proven experience owning and operating infrastructure that supports software at very high scale, including billions of incoming requests per month.
  • Experience with Python backend systems and HTTP APIs.
  • Experience with infrastructure provisioning and production operations (preferred).
