Description

  • Modify, diagnose, and update the Python HTTP backend running on Tornado and backed by Dynamo, Elasticsearch, and Redis.
  • Contribute to the infrastructure-as-code repository used to provision AWS resources.
  • Reason about distributed systems to support strong technical decisions.
  • Own technical work from early design through implementation, production monitoring, and alerting.
  • Share best practices for code authoring, tooling, and observability with other engineering teams.
  • Help ensure platform security and reliability by identifying vulnerabilities and performance bottlenecks.
  • Optimize cloud infrastructure for cost effectiveness and resource management.
  • Help shape the technical roadmap and engineering culture through design proposals and industry engagement.
  • Partner with senior engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders on strategic initiatives and infrastructure priorities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of backend development experience; systems-level thinking is valued over specific language experience.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts such as eventual consistency, fan-in/fan-out patterns, and backpressure.
  • Familiarity with AWS core services including EC2, Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, and ECS/EKS, or equivalent cloud experience.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitHub Actions.
  • Proven experience owning and operating infrastructure for software running at high scale, including billions of incoming requests per month.
  • Ability to work independently, knowing when to gather more information and when to move forward with confidence.
