Description

  • Design, build, and evolve backend systems that power core gameplay and live-service operations at scale.
  • Support live-ops initiatives and game design releases before and after launch.
  • Coordinate closely with the design team throughout the lifecycle of game updates and content releases.
  • Lead incident management, reliability hardening, and operational readiness for production systems.
  • Drive the technical roadmap for backend initiatives and scalable architecture.
  • Lead the design and delivery of player-facing features by bridging server-side logic with game client requirements.
  • Unblock cross-functional teams including Product, Design, QA, and Analytics, and mentor team members.
  • Contribute hands-on to feature development across client and server codebases while maintaining code quality.
  • Identify and mitigate technical debt and operational bottlenecks to improve team velocity.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of professional software development experience in gaming or large-scale live-service applications.
  • Deep backend engineering expertise with high-level server-side languages and frameworks.
  • Experience collaborating with game client engineers, such as Unity/C# teams, on integrated full-stack features.
  • Proven experience designing scalable systems and supporting live-service operations.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure such as AWS and modern CI/CD practices.
  • Experience working with content pipelines and performance optimization.
  • Experience building player-facing features such as progression, social, live events, or monetization.
  • Strong understanding of how backend services integrate with Unity clients.
  • Proven ability to lead technical planning and execution in complex, cross-functional environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborative, proactive mindset with high ownership and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving.

  • Annual salary range of $145,000 to $220,000 USD for candidates in CA, CO, NJ, NY, and WA.
