Description

Own the end-to-end UX of Sangoma’s desk phone and device experiences, from interaction models through execution.
Design for embedded, hardware-constrained environments with physical inputs, limited screens, and real-time expectations.
Define task-driven workflows for telephony functions such as calling, transfers, conferencing, voicemail, and call handling.
Develop and maintain UX artifacts including flows, wireframes, interaction specifications, and system behavior definitions.
Integrate AI tools across the design, implementation, and maintenance phases of the product lifecycle.
Partner with firmware engineers to ensure designs are implemented accurately and perform reliably in production.
Work with Product Management and Ownership to align UX decisions with user needs and business outcomes.
Anticipate edge cases, failure states, and recovery paths in real-time communication scenarios.
Support usability testing and iterate based on real user behavior.
Help drive consistency and usability across Sangoma’s broader device ecosystem.

Requirements

1 to 3 years of experience in UX, user interface design, product design, or interaction design; 3 years preferred.
Demonstrated experience designing task-focused, workflow-driven interfaces.
Strong understanding of human-computer interaction principles, including cognitive load, affordances, and error prevention.
Ability to communicate UX rationale clearly to engineers and non-design stakeholders.
Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or similar.
Genuine curiosity, eagerness to learn, and motivation to understand how design decisions translate into real behavior.
Ability to collaborate directly with team leadership in the US Eastern time zone.
Residency in either an Eastern or Central time zone.
Experience with telephony, VoIP, or enterprise communications products is preferred.
Experience designing for constrained or non-traditional platforms such as embedded devices, hardware products, enterprise tools, or operational systems is preferred.
Understanding of localization and internationalization considerations is preferred.
Prior exposure to usability testing or field studies in enterprise or operational environments is preferred.
