Description

  • Lead the design and implementation of critical AI product initiatives on edge devices.
  • Develop tactical AI solutions and longer-term research efforts.
  • Work with petabyte-scale customer operations data, including text, transactions, diagnostics, sensor, camera, and location data.
  • Partner across business units to prototype new AI experiences and improve ML model performance on edge devices.
  • Collaborate closely with ML engineers, scientists, full-stack engineers, and firmware engineers to deliver product features, services, and optimizations.
  • Stay current with industry and academic research and adopt relevant new technologies.
  • Champion Samsara’s cultural principles as the company scales globally.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer.
  • Strong experience optimizing ML models and systems for edge compute constraints.
  • Proficiency with Spark, Ray, or a similar framework.
  • Experience coding in Python or a similar language.
  • Experience coding in C++ or Rust.
  • Strong functional knowledge of the iterative machine learning product development process.
  • Experience developing and shipping production code at large scale.
  • Ability to distill ambiguous customer and business requirements into clear problem definitions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical peers and leadership audiences.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring ML engineers.
  • Proficiency in self-serving with data for experiments and model training at scale (preferred).
  • Established record of high-impact AI deliveries (preferred).
  • Deep knowledge of state-of-the-art computer vision and multimodal models (preferred).

  • Annual base salary range of $178,640 to $319,000 USD.
