Description

  • Develop and share database architecture patterns and best practices across relational and non-relational technologies.
  • Help teams select appropriate database technologies based on access patterns, scale, and consistency requirements.
  • Lead collaborative efforts to define data contracts for in-house products, including schemas, semantics, quality expectations, change policies, and SLAs.
  • Create decision frameworks and reference materials that help teams design scalable database solutions independently.
  • Champion data contract principles and help teams apply them through shared understanding rather than top-down enforcement.
  • Partner with Analytics, product, and security teams to integrate contract metadata, validations, and policy checks into CI/CD pipelines and production workflows.
  • Support teams in versioning, deprecation, change notifications, and schema evolution practices.
  • Join architecture and design conversations early to identify risks and opportunities before implementation.
  • Work with engineers and DBAs to integrate data contracts into tooling and monitoring for traceability and observability.
  • Mentor engineers and DBAs on database architecture and data contract design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in database design, data modelling, or database engineering roles.
  • Strong expertise in relational databases, with PostgreSQL or Oracle preferred.
  • Solid understanding of RDBMS internals, performance considerations, and architectural trade-offs.
  • Experience with database architecture design patterns, data modelling standards, high-availability strategies, and schema evolution.
  • Familiarity with non-relational technologies such as document, key-value, wide-column, graph, and time-series databases.
  • Understanding of polyglot persistence and how to govern data contracts across mixed database environments.
  • Comfort working in cloud-first or hybrid environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to travel occasionally both domestically and internationally.
