Description

  • Design and own OpenAPI interfaces, typed message schemas, and versioning practices across the Libraries platform and four products.
  • Build the shared discovery layer for search, relevance, and retrieval across a large, heterogeneous content library.
  • Create and maintain continuous delivery pipelines for code, infrastructure, configuration, and data.
  • Establish engineering standards and best practices for security, governance, and technical decision-making.
  • Collaborate with distributed engineering, product, and design teams on cross-product solutions.
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to improving team capability and engineering culture.

Requirements

  • Substantial professional experience building and operating production backend services.
  • Strong TypeScript proficiency, or expertise in a comparably typed language with willingness to work in strict TypeScript.
  • Experience designing, versioning, and testing API contracts in multi-service systems.
  • Cloud infrastructure design experience using infrastructure as code, particularly Terraform on AWS.
  • Experience building and maintaining continuous delivery pipelines and reducing build and release toil.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, including explaining technical trade-offs to nontechnical audiences.
  • Experience mentoring engineers.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • Authorization to work for any U.S. employer; visa sponsorship is not available.

  • Base salary range of $109,500–$150,550, varying by experience and location.
