Description

  • Provide practical legal advice on federal, state, local, and international employment law matters across the full employee lifecycle.
  • Partner with HR leaders in the U.S. and internationally to update employment practices, compliance programs, policies, and trainings.
  • Advise leaders and HR on legal risk related to reorganizations, terminations, and other employment actions.
  • Manage employment litigation and dispute matters, including demand letters, settlements, outside counsel, business unit coordination, and insurer communications.
  • Draft and review employment agreements, restrictive covenant agreements, release agreements, and related employee lifecycle documents.
  • Review and support vendor agreements for employment operations in cooperation with the legal team.
  • Develop and deliver legal trainings for HR team members and other business partners.
  • Support corporate transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, joint ventures, and international expansion on employment law issues.
  • Stay current on employment law changes across multiple jurisdictions and help implement required changes.
  • Select and manage outside employment counsel, including oversight of outside counsel spend.
  • Support compliance and ethics initiatives, including investigations and audits.

Requirements

  • J.D. degree and membership in good standing in at least one bar.
  • At least 6 years of experience in employment law and litigation.
  • Mix of law firm and in-house experience preferred.
  • Experience handling employment litigation matters, including management of outside counsel and litigation costs.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of employment laws including the ADA, FMLA, and FLSA.
  • Willingness to learn applicable international employment laws.
  • Experience with performance management strategies, workplace investigations, and HR practices and procedures.
  • Strong ability to organize and manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, evolving organization.
  • Strong communication and influence skills with internal clients, external organizations, and outside counsel.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion with confidential information and situations.
  • Critical reasoning and problem-solving skills with a focus on conflict resolution.
  • Willingness and aptitude to mentor and train others in areas of expertise.
  • Proficiency in or ability to learn AI tools to improve efficiency and outcomes.
  • Equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; no visa sponsorship available at this time.
