Description

  • Lead development of major team-scoped projects and participate in cross-team initiatives for Remote’s HR and Payroll products.
  • Contribute to product work by providing feedback, proposing technical solutions, and suggesting product improvements.
  • Maintain deep understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
  • Design, implement and contribute to the shared codebase; provide feedback on code reviews and mentor other engineers.
  • Debug and resolve technical and business issues, and participate in support rotations and non-team activities (hiring, RFCs, etc.).
  • Investigate, propose and implement platform improvements to increase reliability, scalability, and performance.
  • Implement interfaces and APIs with attention to performance, accessibility and API design.
  • Redesign how engineering work ships by proposing and operationalizing agentic/autonomous workflows end-to-end (spec → plan → execute → verify).
  • Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives and use verification loops (tests, checks, evals, guardrails) to ensure results are correct, secure and scalable.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of shipping production systems that are secure, reliable, and scalable.
  • Practical experience designing or adopting agentic/automation workflows (or comparable systems) and iterating to improve them.
  • Ability to think in systems: define clear specs, break down plans, instrument verification, and close the loop on quality.
  • Experience with Postgres (or similar relational databases).
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and workflows (GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins or similar).
  • Comfort working asynchronously and autonomously in a fully remote, distributed team.
  • Familiarity with deploying and operating services in cloud environments (teams deploy multiple times per day).
  • Nice to have: experience with functional programming languages (Elixir, Erlang, Scala, Clojure, Haskell), Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Next.js, and React/Vue/Angular.
