Description

  • Lead the development of major team-scoped projects and contribute to cross-team initiatives for Remote’s HR and Payroll products.
  • Participate in product discussions by providing technical feedback, suggesting solutions, and proposing product improvements.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
  • Review code and contribute to the shared codebase.
  • Debug and resolve technical and business issues.
  • Participate in support rotations, hiring activities, and RFC discussions as needed.
  • Mentor and guide other engineers.
  • Investigate, propose, and help implement platform improvements.
  • Implement interfaces with attention to performance, accessibility, and API design.
  • Design and operationalize agentic workflows end-to-end, including spec, plan, execute, and verify steps.
  • Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives that can be applied across domains.
  • Use verification loops such as tests, checks, evals, and guardrails to ensure systems are correct, secure, reliable, and scalable.

Requirements

  • Strong engineering fundamentals with a track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
  • Practical experience designing or adopting agentic or automation workflows, or comparable systems, and improving them iteratively.
  • Ability to think in systems, including defining specs clearly, breaking down plans, instrumenting verification, and closing the loop on quality.
  • Experience with Postgres or a similar relational database.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, or similar.
  • Demonstrated strong automation and AI capabilities, with AI fluency.
  • Nice to have: experience with Kubernetes.
  • Nice to have: experience with Docker.
  • Nice to have: experience with AWS.
  • Nice to have: experience with Next.js.
  • Nice to have: experience with React, Vue, or Angular.
  • Experience working with Elixir and Phoenix is relevant to the current backend stack.
  • Experience working with production systems in a distributed, cross-functional engineering environment is beneficial.
  • Ability to work asynchronously in a fully remote environment.
