Description

  • Build, configure, and maintain backend systems, Drupal modules, and integrations based on project requirements.
  • Own the technical integrity and coherence of the backend layer across delivered projects.
  • Collaborate with frontend developers and the pod lead to ensure front-to-back technical alignment.
  • Participate in code reviews by giving and receiving substantive, technically grounded feedback.
  • Contribute to sprint commitments and surface risks or blockers early to the pod lead.
  • Support site migrations, data integrations, and related backend implementation work.
  • Apply performance and security considerations to production web environments.
  • Maintain architecture quality across delivered work and ensure consistent output within scope.
  • Provide on-call coverage support according to the company-wide calendar.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of backend development experience in relevant languages or frameworks such as PHP, Python, Node.js, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining backend systems for production web applications.
  • Experience with Drupal module development, configuration, and site building.
  • Experience with server-side logic, API integrations, and data migration.
  • Experience participating in code reviews and providing constructive technical feedback.
  • Understanding of performance and security considerations for production web environments.
  • Experience with Lagoon or similar container-based hosting environments is preferred.
  • Site migration or data integration experience at scale is preferred.
  • Familiarity with accessibility and government compliance requirements is preferred.
  • Ability to work full time with core hours of 7 AM to 3 PM EST as an independent contractor.
