Description

  • Lead the development and delivery of major team-scoped projects and participate in cross-team initiatives for Remote's HR and Payroll products.
  • Actively participate in product work by providing feedback, proposing solutions, and using technical insights to suggest product improvements.
  • Design, propose, and operationalize agentic/automation workflows end-to-end (spec → plan → execute → verify) to deliver outcomes faster.
  • Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives in the codebase so teams can apply them repeatedly across domains.
  • Contribute to and maintain the shared codebase, including implementing interfaces with performance, accessibility, and API design in mind.
  • Provide and act on feedback in code reviews and mentor other engineers to improve team capability.
  • Debug and resolve technical and business issues, and investigate, propose, and implement platform improvements.
  • Use verification loops (tests, checks, evaluations, guardrails) to ensure results are correct, secure, reliable, and scalable.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
  • Participate in non-team activities such as support rotations, hiring processes, RFC discussions, and other cross-functional responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of shipping production systems that are secure, reliable, and scalable.
  • Practical experience designing or adopting agentic/automation workflows (or comparable systems) and iterating to improve them.
  • Ability to think in systems: define specifications clearly, break down plans, instrument verification, and close the loop on quality.
  • Experience with Postgres or a similar relational database.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and practices (GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, or similar).
  • Familiarity with verification practices including tests, checks, and guardrails to ensure correctness and reliability.
  • Nice-to-have: Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS experience.
  • Nice-to-have: Frontend framework experience such as Next.js, React, Vue, or Angular.
  • Ability to work asynchronously and take ownership in a remote-first environment.
