Description

  • Lead the development of major team-scoped projects and participate in cross-team initiatives for Remote’s HR and Payroll products.
  • Actively participate in product work by providing feedback, proposing solutions, and suggesting product improvements based on technical insights.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
  • Provide feedback on code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase.
  • Debug and resolve technical and business issues encountered in production and development.
  • Participate in non-team activities such as support rotations, hiring, RFC discussions, and other company processes.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to other engineers to support their technical growth.
  • Investigate, propose, and participate in implementation of platform and process improvements.
  • Design and implement interfaces with attention to performance, accessibility, and API design.
  • Define, propose, and operationalize end-to-end agentic workflows (spec → plan → execute → verify), build reusable agentic workflow primitives, and use verification loops (tests, checks, evals, guardrails) to ensure correctness, security, reliability, and scalability.

Requirements

  • Strong engineering fundamentals with a track record of shipping production systems that are secure, reliable, and scalable.
  • Practical experience designing or adopting agentic/automation workflows (or comparable systems) and iterating to improve them.
  • Ability to think in systems: define specifications clearly, break down plans, instrument verification, and close the loop on quality.
  • Experience with Postgres or a similar relational database.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and workflows (GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, or similar).
  • Familiarity with functional programming languages is a plus (Elixir, Erlang, Scala, Clojure, Haskell, etc.).
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools is desirable (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud hosting platforms (preferred).
  • Familiarity with frontend frameworks and tooling is beneficial (Next.js, React, Vue, Angular).
  • Willingness to work asynchronously in a distributed, remote-first environment and participate in support rotations and cross-team processes.
