Description

  • Lead the development of major team-scoped projects and participate in cross-team initiatives for Remote’s HR and Payroll products.
  • Design, propose and operationalize end-to-end agentic/automation workflows (spec → plan → execute → verify) to deliver outcomes faster.
  • Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives in the codebase for repeated use across domains.
  • Contribute to and maintain the shared codebase, including providing and acting on code review feedback.
  • Actively participate in product work: provide feedback, suggest solutions, and use technical insights to influence product improvements.
  • Implement interfaces with attention to performance, accessibility, and API design.
  • Debug and resolve technical and business issues, and instrument verification to close the loop on quality.
  • Investigate, propose and participate in implementation of platform and engineering process improvements.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to other engineers, and participate in hiring, RFC discussions, and support rotations.
  • Redesign how engineering work ships by making autonomous agents a default execution layer and applying verification loops (tests, checks, evals, guardrails) to ensure correctness, security, reliability, and scalability.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of shipping production systems that are secure, reliable, and scalable.
  • Practical experience designing, adopting, or improving agentic/automation workflows or comparable systems.
  • Ability to think in systems: define specs, break down plans, instrument verification, and close quality loops.
  • Experience with Postgres or similar relational databases.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, or similar.
  • Experience contributing to and operating in cross-functional engineering teams and participating in non-team activities (support rotations, hiring, RFCs).
  • Nice to have: experience with functional programming languages (Elixir, Erlang, Scala, Clojure, Haskell).
  • Nice to have: experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS.
  • Nice to have: experience with frontend frameworks such as Next.js, React, Vue, or Angular.
  • Comfort working asynchronously and remotely; available to start as soon as possible.
