Description

  • Work alongside the Division Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the bookkeeping team.
  • Serve as a go-to resource for team members handling complex accounting situations, client-specific challenges, or workflow questions.
  • Provide hands-on guidance and mentorship to bookkeepers who need help problem-solving and improving performance.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with team members to monitor workload, quality, and morale.
  • Identify skill gaps and support team development through coaching, training, and knowledge sharing.
  • Help onboard new team members and set them up for success from day one.
  • Manage a portfolio of assigned client accounts across multiple industries.
  • Perform core bookkeeping functions including transaction categorization, bank reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, and month-end close.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly financial reports and statements to clients.
  • Maintain clean, organized, audit-ready client files and records.
  • Communicate directly with clients to gather documentation, answer questions, and provide financial updates.
  • Review team members' work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with client expectations and accounting standards.
  • Set and reinforce consistent standards for documentation, formatting, and delivery across the team.
  • Flag recurring quality issues to the Division Manager and help develop solutions.
  • Support the Division Manager with client assignments, team capacity, workflow, deadlines, and process improvements.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting experience with strong command of core bookkeeping functions.
  • Prior experience managing, mentoring, or leading a small accounting or bookkeeping team.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple client accounts simultaneously with accuracy and consistency.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Xero, or similar accounting platforms; multi-software experience is a strong plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and standard bookkeeping practices.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain accounting concepts to both team members and non-finance clients.
  • High attention to detail and a strong commitment to delivering clean, accurate work.
  • Self-directed and reliable, with the ability to manage your own time and your team's work without micromanagement.
  • Experience in a virtual bookkeeping, remote accounting, or multi-client accounting environment is preferred.
  • Experience working with small to mid-sized businesses across a variety of industries is preferred.
  • Experience onboarding new clients or new team members into an accounting workflow is preferred.
  • Familiarity with project management or team coordination tools such as Asana, ClickUp, or similar is preferred.
  • An accounting certification or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Active CPA license or CPA candidacy is preferred.
