Description

  • Develop and document secure, easy-to-use APIs for front-end and back-end applications.
  • Build integrations with internal applications and third-party software.
  • Participate in the full implementation cycle from design through rollout.
  • Use AI coding tools as part of the development workflow and validate generated code carefully.
  • Collaborate with Engineers and the Product Manager to plan and implement new features.
  • Contribute to Back-End Engineering Chapter discussions and architecture decisions.
  • Work asynchronously across time zones with a remote-first, cross-functional squad.
  • Take increasing ownership of implementation work as you grow in the role.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a software development role.
  • Strong Python skills and experience with a Python framework, preferably FastAPI.
  • Experience implementing microservices.
  • Knowledge of API design using REST, gRPC, and GraphQL, plus documentation with OpenAPI/Swagger.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with common data store solutions.
  • Ability to draw and document technical solutions before implementation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a remote environment with clear written communication and reliable async collaboration.
  • Familiarity with AI coding assistants and interest in building a disciplined workflow around them (preferred).
  • Experience with TDD and writing tests, especially when working with AI-generated code (preferred).
  • Experience working on a SaaS platform or custom-built product (preferred).
  • Knowledge of online payment, payroll, or invoicing domains (preferred).
  • Some experience with Java and Spring Boot (preferred).
  • Understanding of security and application performance concepts (preferred).
  • Self-directed, curious, and proactive about ownership and feedback (preferred).
