Description

  • Perform thermal analyses on Aeon-R engines to guide design decisions and meet reliability and performance requirements.
  • Analyze 3D-printed engine components, complex mechanical assemblies, and the thermal integrity of the fully integrated engine assembly.
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical designers, manufacturing engineers, and junior thermal analysts to develop optimal engine and vehicle solutions.
  • Develop and execute tests supporting development and qualification, including test article integration, instrumentation setup, and data processing.
  • Advance the propulsion team’s thermal analysis discipline by creating best practices and standards documents.
  • Train and mentor others on thermal analysis methods and practices.
  • Support design-for-production and future engine modifications, including thrust upgrades and new cycles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science, engineering, technology, or mathematics field.
  • 8+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience with finite element analysis.
  • Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Ability to work independently while balancing multiple deliverables, competing priorities, and deadlines.
  • Experience defining thermal and fluid instrumentation suites for tests.
  • Experience with finite element analysis using ANSYS products, including ANSYS Workbench, ANSYS Classic, ANSYS Parametric Design Language (APDL), and ANSYS Customization Toolkit (ACT) (preferred).
  • Experience with Siemens NX and Teamcenter (preferred).
  • Familiarity with industry best practices (preferred).
  • Familiarity with aerospace standards, particularly SMC-S-016 (preferred).
  • Experience with phase-change heat transfer, including boiling and condensation (preferred).
  • Experience with design of liquid propulsion components and systems (preferred).
  • Experience defining best practices for thermal analyses across the full development cycle (preferred).
