Description

  • Manage a small team of launch mechanical engineers designing mechanisms and tools that interface with the flight vehicle and ground systems.
  • Mentor engineers on fundamental and practical engineering practices.
  • Balance people leadership responsibilities with individual technical project work.
  • Influence launch system design outcomes through direct and indirect technical contributions.
  • Recruit, interview, and help grow the team.
  • Develop training materials, provide direct mentorship, and participate in performance reviews.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and team status to leadership.
  • Design, build, test, and integrate complex mechanical systems for launch facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in a test or launch environment.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals in structures, mechanical design, and fluid systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver on tight schedules, including when unconventional or creative solutions are needed.
  • Strong leadership skills, including mentorship, communication, conflict resolution, and managing expectations.
  • Experience designing, manufacturing, testing, and implementing launch vehicle interface mechanism systems and tooling (preferred).
  • Familiarity with NASA, DoD, Space Force, and other governing body standards (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of common structural materials and manufacturing processes (preferred).
  • Experience designing complex fluid systems, including high-pressure gas, cryogenic fluids, flammables, and hydraulics (preferred).
  • Varied perspectives and backgrounds are valued.
