Description

  • Own the system test plan covering functional, integration, performance, and load testing.
  • Translate product acceptance criteria into executable tests and review ambiguous requirements before development starts.
  • Work daily with engineering and platform teams while remaining independent in reporting test results.
  • Build and maintain automated test suites and integrate them into CI/CD as release gates.
  • Establish automated coverage standards and maintain regression coverage across releases.
  • Build performance and load tests that validate the system under expected user load.
  • Create labeled evaluation sets, sampled audits, and release evidence for automated decisions.
  • Measure system misses, user overrides, and other quality signals, then report trends.
  • Maintain version inventory, test reports, evaluation records, and rollback criteria for each release.
  • Coordinate customer UAT and track findings through resolution.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in software quality engineering, test automation, or software engineering with substantial dedicated test ownership.
  • Strong coding ability in a test automation language and framework such as Python with pytest, JavaScript or TypeScript with Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
  • Ability to read and reason about application code under test; Python experience is especially relevant.
  • Routine use of AI-assisted development with sound judgment about when outputs need verification.
  • Experience building automated test suites and integrating them into CI/CD pipelines as release gates.
  • Experience owning a test plan through review and acceptance.
  • Demonstrated habit of testing against requirements rather than implementation.
  • Experience with performance and load testing.
  • Working statistical literacy, including sampling design and confidence limits.
  • Experience measuring what a system misses, not only what it gets right.
  • Ability to gate work owned by others and hold the release line when evidence is insufficient.
  • Clear, audit-ready written documentation skills.
  • US citizenship required.
  • Active US Secret clearance required, with favorable investigation and CAC eligibility from the start.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% to customer sites, DEFCON AI HQ, and vendor facilities.
  • Preferred: active Top Secret clearance.
  • Preferred: experience in government DevSecOps, RMF, or ATO environments.
  • Preferred: contract and API testing, test data management, and building extensible test infrastructure.
  • Preferred: AI-assisted testing with language models.
  • Preferred: JMeter, k6, Locust, or similar performance tools.
  • Preferred: validating machine learning or model output, including groundedness and citation checking.
  • Preferred: responsible AI practices such as model cards or NIST AI RMF.
  • Preferred: Section 508 and WCAG verification experience.
