Description

  • Design data models for invoicing, payments, P&L reporting, and other financial workflows.
  • Build client-facing APIs integrating HR, payroll, accounting, and other external systems.
  • Architect backend services using Python, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL.
  • Choose appropriate OLAP and OLTP approaches for different data and reporting needs.
  • Combine operational, labor, subscription, and financial data to produce reliable reports.
  • Own greenfield features from technical design and schema decisions through deployment and iteration.
  • Contribute to the React frontend when needed while primarily owning backend systems.

Requirements

  • 3–7 years of backend or full-stack engineering experience building production systems; 5+ years preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, and GraphQL.
  • Experience at an ERP, fintech, or accounting software company.
  • Experience modeling data for invoicing, payments, or financial reporting.
  • Strong schema design skills and practical understanding of OLAP versus OLTP trade-offs.
  • Track record of delivering greenfield features from design through deployment.
  • Fluency in accounting and finance concepts and ability to work with domain stakeholders.
  • Experience designing client-facing APIs for HR, payroll, or accounting integrations preferred.
  • Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD, React, or WebSockets preferred.
  • Experience in defense technology or manufacturing software preferred; US citizenship or permanent residency required.

Benefits

  • Base salary of $170,000–$230,000, with flexibility for exceptional candidates.
  • Competitive early-employee equity.
  • Remote work available in the United States, with a preference for West Coast candidates.
  • Quarterly team on-sites in San Diego for remote employees.
  • San Diego-based employees work in the office three days per week.
