Description

  • Collaborate, build, and lead key components of Core Discovery services, with emphasis on Maps, Location, and Directory search.
  • Work closely with cross-functional partners including UX designers and data scientists to deliver user-focused solutions.
  • Own the development of scalable, maintainable, and innovative backend solutions.
  • Advocate for strong user experiences using feedback loops and data-driven methods to refine product features.
  • Navigate the full software development life cycle, including agile practices, CI/CD, and engineering best practices.
  • Support the backend team’s initiatives and help champion solutions to major product challenges.
  • Stay current with Raya’s tech ecosystem and emerging tools and practices.
  • Contribute to location-based and search-related product surfaces that are central to the team’s roadmap.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in modern software development environments.
  • Recognized leadership and a track record of growing within an organization while delivering results.
  • Strong system design and architecture skills.
  • Mastery of Node.js and TypeScript.
  • Proven experience building and scaling backend systems in production at a startup or fast-moving environment.
  • Production experience with location-based systems, including geospatial data, geo indexing, proximity and nearby queries, and mapping surfaces.
  • Experience building search systems for consumer products, including relevance, ranking, and Elasticsearch or similar tools, is strongly preferred.
  • Strong data fundamentals in PostgreSQL and MongoDB, including indexing and query performance.
  • Enthusiasm for new AI tools and frameworks and a willingness to adopt emerging best practices quickly.
