Description

  • Serve as the technical specialist for complex investment asset classes and structures under U.S. GAAP and U.S. Statutory accounting requirements.
  • Lead research on consolidation assessments for complex investment transaction structures under variable interest entity and voting interest models.
  • Lead research on accounting for strategic new investment vehicles, including equity method, Fair Value Option, and underlying asset models.
  • Lead research on financing, derivatives, hedge accounting, securities lending transactions, and other unique transactions.
  • Act as the main point of contact for the investment office on complex transactions and define the related accounting treatment.
  • Collaborate with the financial reporting team on operational setup to ensure accounting results are executed in accordance with GAAP.
  • Proactively adopt and integrate AI-powered tools and platforms into research and execution workflows.
  • Serve as a trusted resource to the investment accounting team on technical accounting matters related to the investment portfolio.
  • Research, assess, and document accounting implications for significant or unusual transactions using standard templates.
  • Monitor and document developments from the FASB, SEC, and NAIC that may affect accounting policies, practices, and disclosures.
  • Contribute to the documentation of financial processes and controls to support the internal control program.
  • Provide real-time technical accounting advice to support corporate development and new transaction activity, including the investment side of new reinsurance transactions.
  • Provide training and coaching to new and existing staff as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and an internationally recognized accounting designation, such as CPA or CA, is required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience is required.
  • Relevant investment background is preferred.
  • Significant public accounting firm experience is preferred.
  • Insurance sector exposure is preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience with accounting for complex investment asset classes and structures is required.
  • Specific expertise in consolidation assessment of private equity asset structures under variable interest and voting interest consolidation models is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to represent technical accounting positions to private equity and asset manager vendors is required.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace and manage shifting priorities is required.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to produce outstanding technical memoranda is required.
  • Strong research, analytical, and communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively is required.
  • Ability to stay current on U.S. GAAP, U.S. Statutory accounting guidance, and SEC regulations is required.
  • Ability to communicate and team effectively across different cultures and levels within the organization is required.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $176,000 to $196,000 USD.
  • Annual bonus eligibility based on company and individual performance.
  • Generous benefits package.
