Description

  • Lead the competitive intelligence practice for the Retail Retirement business and manage the team responsible for market and competitor analysis.
  • Collaborate with marketing, actuarial, product development, operations, and strategy partners to deliver actionable insights.
  • Conduct or oversee primary and secondary research to benchmark competitors’ products, strategies, target markets, pricing, and marketing.
  • Ensure all research and information-sharing practices comply with anti-trust, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Mentor and develop Product Intelligence team members while improving team processes, routines, and outcomes.
  • Support marketing literature, illustrations, presentations, and product positioning with research-based recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain comparison tools, product battlecards, and side-by-side product and feature comparisons.
  • Oversee the annuity rate setting process and support fund review and fund analysis activities.
  • Analyze third-party sales and asset reports to summarize Protective’s market position for leadership.
  • Participate in industry networking groups and use external relationships to gather competitor and market intelligence.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in the financial services industry.
  • Competitive intelligence experience and deep knowledge of CI practices and tools preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees, executive education, and industry designations or licenses preferred.
  • Strong understanding of industry products, competitors, distribution channels, and marketplace dynamics.
  • Proven ability to identify insights from multiple information sources and translate them into actionable recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across business functions and influence outcomes.
  • Results-focused with a high degree of accountability.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to train and present across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Highly organized, intrinsically motivated, and able to independently manage multiple projects.
