Description

  • Answer incoming claims calls and identify key contract and coverage information.
  • Open new claims thoroughly and accurately, collect and review all required claim documents.
  • Adjudicate claims in accordance with contract terms and state requirements, including authorizing claims within 30 minutes if no additional information is required.
  • Request and review additional information (e.g., photos, inspections) prior to authorizing claims and ensure approvals are obtained from appropriate parties.
  • Provide claim status updates and communicate follow-up instructions or web claims processes to customers and dealers.
  • Manage escalated cases, handle disputes or complaints effectively, and maintain desired performance metrics for claim handling.
  • Perform administrative duties, maintain professional and technical knowledge, and assist the Mechanical Claims Lead and Supervisor with projects.
  • Support cross-departmental collaboration and cross-train to gain basic knowledge of other teams and processes.

Requirements

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain a positive attitude under stress.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and active listening; receptive to coaching and development.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, able to plan, prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to type at least 40 wpm and demonstrate strong 10-key skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and able to use specialized claims software; comfortable working extensively on a computer.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude and ability to operate calculators and related office equipment.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods, occasionally lift at least 20 pounds, and work flexible hours (Monday–Friday standard business hours with overtime available).
  • Preferred: ASE certification or Automotive Service Excellence and experience in automotive mechanical claims, service writing, or repair facility operations.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with automotive systems, repair processes, and industry labor guides (e.g., Mitchell, AllData) and prior claims contact center experience.
