Description

  • Scale Prismic’s public Content API to handle millions of daily requests with a focus on latency, availability, and cost.
  • Build customer-facing usage metrics and visibility for API calls, users, and bandwidth.
  • Implement API governance with robust rate limiting and separation of public and private APIs.
  • Provide AI infrastructure that supports MCP-based creation workflows and seamless tooling communication.
  • Design and improve systems for reliability, scalability, observability, and graceful degradation.
  • Architect and evolve distributed systems and APIs used across the platform.
  • Collaborate with product, infra, and other squads to align on trade-offs and technical standards.
  • Mentor senior engineers, review code, and raise the team’s technical judgment.
  • Debug complex distributed systems, tune queries, and deliver critical changes when needed.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience architecting large-scale distributed systems and APIs serving millions of requests daily.
  • Deep experience with API gateways, rate limiting, quota enforcement, and fair usage controls.
  • Strong understanding of scaling concerns such as multitenancy, regionalisation, data boundaries, compliance, and graceful degradation.
  • Experience designing systems with metrics, traces, and logs from the start.
  • Ability to balance innovation with stability while maintaining uptime.
  • Experience influencing across teams and aligning stakeholders on technical trade-offs.
  • Hands-on engineering capability for debugging distributed systems and tuning queries.
  • Interest in how AI can augment engineering, including anomaly detection and adaptive scaling.
  • Proven track record of leading infrastructure or platform-wide initiatives with measurable reliability, cost, or performance gains (bonus).
  • Experience scaling multi-region, multi-tenant SaaS platforms (bonus).
  • Technology experience with TypeScript/Node.js, AWS, SST, serverless architecture, PostgreSQL, LangGraph, Playwright, GitHub Actions, React, or Cursor/Claude Code.
