Description

  • Oversee daily IHC and FISH analyses and support assay development.
  • Cross-train laboratory personnel on regulated IHC and FISH SOPs.
  • Manage testing staff and ensure compliance with CAP/CLIA and GxP requirements.
  • Develop staff schedules, including rotation and holiday coverage, and serve as backup for laboratory testing as needed.
  • Ensure laboratory procedures are followed accurately and deviations are addressed and escalated to management and QA.
  • Maintain accurate sample tracking and testing documentation in LIMS.
  • Monitor and report key performance indicators such as turnaround time, quality events, staff capacity, and special project progress.
  • Oversee laboratory equipment, workspaces, inventory, supplies, reagents, and consumables to ensure operational readiness.
  • Recommend process improvements, equipment maintenance or replacement, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Maintain competency across applicable assays and provide backup testing support when necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
  • 8+ years of industry experience in a clinical, diagnostic, or CRO laboratory.
  • Hands-on experience with IHC assays.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience in a CAP- or CLIA-regulated laboratory.
  • ASCP certification (HT or equivalent).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Experience operating analytical instruments commonly used in laboratory settings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to directly supervise staff.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with occasional travel as needed.
  • Specialized knowledge in biochemistry, immunology, molecular biology, or cell biology (preferred).
