Description

  • Direct, manage, and coordinate Project Directors and Project Managers across global project portfolios.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for clinical programs and, in some cases, manage program activities directly.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for study sponsors beyond project management.
  • Optimize the profitability of the Project Management organization and help meet budget targets.
  • Assess and manage resource allocation to support cost, time, and quality goals.
  • Select, train, develop, coach, and evaluate performance of project leadership talent.
  • Provide technical guidance on scope, risks, escalation, mitigation, resource planning, goals, and deliverables.
  • Identify and escalate impacts to project scope, resources, schedule, or budget using standard processes.
  • Ensure compliance with SOPs, working guidelines, project plans, and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Business Development on opportunities, proposals, budgeting, and bid defense preparation.
  • Manage project and program interdependencies to achieve milestones and deliverables.
  • Evaluate projects and implement corrective actions, including recovery, re-scoping, postponement, or cancellation of at-risk work.
  • Measure and report KPIs and lead continuous improvement efforts.
  • Manage workload, provide feedback, and complete annual performance reviews for supervised staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience in a science or health-related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in clinical research, including extensive project management and line management experience, or demonstrated equivalent competencies.
  • Working knowledge of GCP/ICH guidelines and the clinical development process.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration and stakeholder interaction.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a customer-service-oriented demeanor.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, including overnight stays.
  • Experience managing complex and global trials is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of project management techniques and tools.
  • Direct experience in a global, cross-functional project management environment.
  • Proven people management experience.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, risk management, and change management.
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen.
  • Executive presence and ability to deliver complex presentations to senior management.
  • In-depth experience in pharmaceutical and/or device research.
  • Preferred experience in Rheumatology and Oncology.
