Description

  • Provide technical leadership to a team applying software engineering practices to operations at scale.
  • Monitor and report on service-level objectives and establish performance indicators with business and product owners.
  • Design and architect automated, repeatable, and consistent operational solutions.
  • Create and maintain monitoring technologies and processes for application performance and business metrics.
  • Test application and infrastructure resiliency across varied failure conditions.
  • Partner with security engineers to automate safe responses to risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate with development and internal teams to meet business and operational requirements.
  • Provide architectural guidance to improve resiliency, efficiency, performance, and costs.
  • Conduct technical training, game-day scenarios, and focused engineering spikes.
  • Develop and monitor standard processes supporting sustainable operational practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, MIS, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant software development or architecture experience and hands-on DevOps or systems administration experience.
  • Experience building and supporting cloud-based solutions and mission-critical production applications.
  • Experience with one or more of C, C++, Java, Python, Go, Perl, or Ruby.
  • Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis, and software design.
  • Experience with configuration management and deployment automation tools such as Chef, Terraform, Puppet, or Ansible.
  • Experience administering Windows and Linux systems in operational environments.
  • Knowledge of software development life cycles, QA and beta environments, Agile methodology, and change management.
  • Experience with cloud computing, on-premises infrastructure, and diverse infrastructure platforms.
  • Azure infrastructure and services experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with virtualization and containers such as Docker, Kubernetes, or ECS is strongly preferred.
  • Strong Linux troubleshooting knowledge, hosting technology versatility, or open-source contribution experience is preferred.
