Description

  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable distributed systems built on Java microservices.
  • Engineer and optimize batch and real-time data pipelines using modern lakehouse and cloud data technologies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, analytics, and AI teams to align data capabilities with business needs.
  • Advance modernization efforts by deepening event-driven architectures and cloud-native approaches.
  • Drive best practices in data governance, observability, and performance tuning for data workloads.
  • Embed data quality controls into processing pipelines through schema contracts, testing, assertions, and validation checks.
  • Establish robust pipeline observability with metrics, logging, distributed tracing, dashboards, SLAs, SLOs, and alerting.
  • Mentor team members and foster a culture of quality through peer reviews and constructive feedback.
  • Support delivery of complex features and technical objectives through ambiguity as a hands-on contributor.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of professional experience in software or data engineering, including 4+ years focused on batch and streaming data pipelines.
  • Proven experience driving technical direction and mentoring engineers while delivering complex, high-scale solutions as a hands-on contributor.
  • Strong understanding of event-driven architectures and distributed systems, with experience building resilient, low-latency pipelines.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and containerized deployments for data workloads.
  • Experience with data quality practices and CI/CD integration, including schema management, automated testing, and validation frameworks such as dbt or Great Expectations.
  • Experience implementing observability for data pipelines, including metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting.
  • Strong foundation in data governance and performance optimization for reliable, scalable batch and streaming environments.
  • Experience with lakehouse architectures and related technologies such as Apache Hudi, Azure ADLS Gen2, HDFS, Trino, Databricks, and Spark.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and evangelize modern data practices.
