Description

  • Implement features and services, including medium-sized technical designs that involve multiple collaborating classes and database schema changes.
  • Write, test, and maintain high-quality code across one or more codebases such as TypeScript, Python, or Ruby.
  • Craft thoughtful pull requests and provide detailed code reviews for peers.
  • Document technical designs and lead design reviews with support from more senior technical leads.
  • Participate in sprint planning, grooming, and retrospectives to understand priorities and business context.
  • Respond to code review feedback and continuously improve code quality and reliability.
  • Work with AI- and data-powered components in production while following responsible data and privacy guidelines.
  • Own assigned tasks or features and communicate progress and blockers clearly.
  • Help onboard new team members and provide guidance to junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience excluding internships, with a focus on backend or full-stack development.
  • Strong proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Ruby or Python.
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems, caching, and database optimization.
  • Experience building user interfaces with TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and component-based frameworks such as React.
  • Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility, and user experience fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with full-stack development and working closely with backend services.
  • Experience consuming APIs and integrating frontend applications with backend services.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and ask questions to clarify product or design requirements.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment while balancing quality and speed.
  • Collaborative mindset with a focus on feedback, mentorship, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated use of AI tools to accelerate development is a strong plus.
  • Exposure to design systems or shared component libraries is a plus.
  • Experience with frontend performance optimization and debugging is a plus.
  • Must be currently based in Canada and legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • This is a 100% remote position open only to candidates residing in Canada.
