Description

  • Ensure the timely and efficient peer review of all submissions.
  • Resolve queries or concerns raised by vendors, Customer Care, or other PLOS colleagues within required timelines, or escalate them appropriately.
  • Identify and remove barriers to submission by collaborating with colleagues across PLOS.
  • Proactively identify workflow inefficiencies, variations, and backlogs to diagnose persistent issues.
  • Ensure manuscripts meet requirements and comply with current policies and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot persistent manuscript, workflow, or system issues and escalate when needed.
  • Recommend continuous improvements to journal operations and workflows based on data.
  • Maintain standard journal workflows and implement approved process updates.
  • Serve as the daily liaison with vendor representatives and monitor quality and timeliness against KPIs.
  • Contribute to workflow projects, operations initiatives, and other research outputs supporting PLOS’s mission.

Requirements

  • A university degree or equivalent is required; a scientific discipline is a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive problem-solving approach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with vendors, authors, editors, customers, and colleagues in international settings.
  • Experience working under tight deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to set priorities and work independently.
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, file types, and file conversions.
  • Positive, professional customer service attitude and strong professionalism in the workplace.
  • Flexibility to work across time zones and some willingness to travel nationally or internationally.
  • Interest in science and advancing scientific knowledge.

  • Base salary range of US$55,000 to US$60,000.
