Description

  • Monitor real-time and historical DAS/SCADA plant data to detect underperformance, equipment issues, and system alerts (inverter efficiency, tracker alignment, string-level anomalies).
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues affecting system performance, grid stability, and control systems, and support resolution with field teams.
  • Lead root cause analyses (RCA) for equipment failures and outage events, correlating meteorological data with electrical output to determine why failures occurred.
  • Develop and maintain automated data ingestion, cleaning, and sanity-check pipelines using Python/R and SQL to replace manual spreadsheet workflows.
  • Use PVsyst and DAS modeling logic to compare actual vs. expected energy production, adjust for degradation and weather variance, and identify system losses.
  • Identify system inefficiencies and develop strategies to improve energy yield and system availability.
  • Translate technical findings into concise Action Reports for asset managers and field technicians with specific tests and repairs to reduce truck rolls and MTTR.
  • Calculate and track Guarantee Availability and Performance Ratio (PR) to verify O&M provider compliance with PPA obligations and support contractual reporting.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in the solar industry, specifically in O&M, Performance Engineering, or Asset Management.
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related quantitative field.
  • Understanding of PV concepts including DC/AC ratios, clipping losses, inverter operating curves, soiling/shading impacts, and system loss drivers.
  • Proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn) or R for data analysis and strong SQL skills for querying large historical datasets.
  • Hands-on experience with PVsyst and meteorological (MET) station data and integrating DAS/SCADA sources.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to track and execute large volumes of ongoing compliance obligations.
  • Ability to translate technical results into actionable recommendations for non-technical stakeholders (financial impact-focused communication) — preferred.
  • Field empathy and practical understanding of sensor/comms issues versus hardware failures — preferred.
  • Experience with battery energy storage performance monitoring/analysis, mechanical engineering background, Community Solar knowledge, NABCEP certification, or OSHA-30 are all desirable — preferred.
  • Based in or able to support Denver, Colorado operations with remote work capability as required.

  • Base salary $90,000–$120,000 depending on experience.
