Description

  • Own the health, scalability and reliability of Pipe's systems end to end, including partner-facing APIs and SDKs, money movement, capital markets infrastructure, and AI/ML model infrastructure.
  • Make and defend architectural decisions and stay close to the codebase to evaluate technical designs.
  • Set standards for code quality, testing, deployment and incident response.
  • Sequence the technical roadmap against speed, scale and risk, starting with credit operations, liquidity tooling and partner integrations.
  • Lead about 10 engineers through two squad leads and unblock the team directly.
  • Create clarity, momentum and a sustainable pace for the engineering team.
  • Build a culture where engineers make decisions and defend their choices.
  • Recruit, mentor and develop engineers as the team grows.
  • Work with Product, Risk, Data Science, Capital Markets and Finance to support scope, delivery, reconciliation and reporting.
  • Own incident response and production reliability, including monitoring, alerting and on-call practices.

Requirements

  • 6+ years in software engineering, including 2+ years leading a team of 5 or more engineers.
  • Experience at a fintech, payments company, or another company running regulated financial systems.
  • Hands-on engineering leadership with the ability to review code, debug production issues and make architectural calls.
  • Track record of scaling engineering teams and systems at an early-stage or high-growth startup.
  • Experience owning business-critical infrastructure where uptime, reliability and security are required.
  • Strong cross-functional experience working with Product, Risk, Data Science, Capital Markets and Finance.
  • First-principles operator who can debug and fix production issues and technical debt directly.
  • Comfort working through imperfect systems and legacy tradeoffs.
  • Experience with payments, money movement or lending infrastructure (preferred).
  • Experience with partner SDK and API integrations at scale in embedded finance, marketplaces or platform partnerships (preferred).
  • Experience scaling an engineering team from Series A to Series C (preferred).
  • Experience with credit risk or capital markets systems (preferred).
