Description

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for ASC 606 across Pinterest’s product portfolio, including multi-element arrangements, contract modifications, variable consideration, and usage-based commitments.
  • Own, update, and maintain revenue recognition policies, playbooks, and accounting memos for complex contract structures.
  • Review complex and non-standard contracts and provide structuring guidance that balances commercial objectives with revenue accounting outcomes.
  • Partner with Finance, Legal, Sales, Sales Operations, Business Systems, Engineering, and business owners to design scalable and automated revenue accounting processes.
  • Determine revenue recognition treatment for new products and offerings, including performance obligations, standalone selling price, and contract modification assessments.
  • Translate technical accounting concepts into clear guidance for non-accounting stakeholders and leadership.
  • Support monthly and quarter-end revenue close activities, including journal entries, deal reviews, and reporting.
  • Contribute to special projects, system enhancements, user acceptance testing, and ad hoc analyses as the business evolves.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate technical research and memo drafting.
  • Evaluate AI outputs and craft effective prompts to support accounting work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • 3+ years of substantial experience in technical revenue accounting / ASC 606.
  • Deep technical expertise in ASC 606, related accounting guidance, and external disclosure guidance.
  • Ability to research and evaluate complex accounting rules, contract structures, and emerging accounting issues or regulatory changes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration skills and experience building partnerships with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated experience using AI to accelerate technical research or accounting operations.
  • CPA or equivalent certification, Big 4 experience, or audit background strongly preferred.
  • Tech industry experience and accounting advisory expertise in complex revenue environments strongly preferred.
  • Internet advertising experience preferred.
  • Ability to visit a Pinterest office for collaboration up to 2 times per month.
  • Must be able to work remotely from anywhere in the U.S., with in-office collaboration 1–2 times every 6 months.

  • Base salary range of $98,561 to $202,918 USD.
