Description

  • Own and drive the product roadmap for GenAI safety across Pinterest’s AI-powered surfaces, including assisted search, recommendations, moderation, and generative content tools.
  • Lead proactive threat modeling and red-teaming to identify risks, failure modes, and adversarial attack vectors across AI systems.
  • Translate content guidelines and policy objectives into buildable product requirements and model guardrails in partnership with policy, legal, and ethics teams.
  • Collaborate with engineering, ML, design, data science, policy, legal, communications, and operations teams to ship AI safety solutions globally.
  • Define and track safety metrics, including fairness audits, false positive and negative rates, disparate impact analysis, and content harm reduction.
  • Develop and maintain AI safety incident runbooks and escalation frameworks, and lead rapid triage and remediation for harmful outputs.
  • Anticipate emerging AI risks, including multimodal generation, synthetic media, and agentic AI, and build extensible safety infrastructure.
  • Ensure AI safety approaches account for global user contexts, norms, and equity considerations.
  • Champion the safety and psychological wellbeing of users and internal teams exposed to harmful content.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of product management experience with depth in GenAI/ML, trust & safety, content moderation, or responsible AI.
  • Strong fluency in AI/ML concepts, including generative models, recommendation systems, multimodal AI, and RLHF.
  • Experience with AI ethics frameworks, responsible AI principles, or regulatory landscapes such as NIST AI RMF or the EU AI Act.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams through ambiguous, high-stakes problem spaces with a bias for action.
  • Experience mapping threat models, validating risks, and translating insights into product strategies and roadmaps.
  • Excellent communication skills for explaining complex technical and ethical trade-offs to non-technical audiences and senior leadership.
  • Deep empathy for users and a commitment to making the internet safer.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this role.
  • Must be able to travel to the office for in-person collaboration 1-2 times per quarter; the role can be based anywhere in the country.
