Description

  • Define the multi-year strategy and roadmap for Trust & Safety, User Understanding, and Content Understanding.
  • Establish north-star outcomes and leading indicators for risk, trust, ecosystem health, and understanding quality.
  • Identify, instrument, and operationalize key input metrics that drive integrity and understanding performance.
  • Lead, hire, develop, and inspire a data science organization spanning product analytics, ML evaluation, experimentation, causal inference, and integrity measurement.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Policy to ship improvements in detection, enforcement precision, and distribution systems.
  • Own measurement strategy for safety, integrity, and understanding quality using causal inference, experimentation, offline evaluation, and long-term value measurement.
  • Present complex analyses and recommendations to executives and cross-functional partners to align on trade-offs between safety, expression, growth, and usability.
  • Advance AI-driven content and user understanding by evaluating and improving AI/ML models, including generative AI and embedding-based approaches.
  • Build rigorous measurement frameworks to ensure models are accurate, fair, and aligned with Pinterest’s values.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in a quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in Data Science, Algorithmic Engineering, or ML.
  • Significant impact in digital advertising or large-scale marketplaces.
  • 5+ years of experience managing data science organizations, including managing managers.
  • Experience leveraging AI and agentic approaches to accelerate data science workflows.
  • Deep experience with statistical analysis, causal inference, and experiment design for complex marketplaces.
  • Experience with production analytics and large-scale data tooling, including Python/R, SQL, and Spark/Hive.
  • Experience with applied ML or relevance/ranking systems.
  • Familiarity with auction dynamics, pacing, and quality modeling.
  • Proven ability to operate through input metrics tied to business outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $228,911 to $471,286 USD for US-based applicants.
  • Eligible for equity.
  • Flexible PinFlex working model with remote-based work and in-office collaboration 1-2 times per quarter.
