Description

  • Lead a remote team of engineers working on core infrastructure and related systems.
  • Mentor team members and support their professional and technical growth.
  • Assign work based on individual strengths, work styles, and career goals.
  • Foster a team culture of collaboration, inclusion, and respect.
  • Provide continuous feedback, address performance issues, and recognize contributions.
  • Set priorities for technical and resourcing challenges in partnership with Engineering leadership.
  • Drive continuous improvement in code, architecture, and engineering processes.
  • Partner with engineers and stakeholders to maintain a prioritized backlog and define short- and long-term goals.
  • Build relationships across Engineering, Operations, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Help shape company-wide engineering practices, technology choices, and tech stack evolution.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in an official engineering management role.
  • At least 1 year of experience managing a remote team.
  • Experience managing engineers’ performance, including feedback and performance correction.
  • Experience growing teams, defining hiring criteria, and owning the recruiting lifecycle.
  • Experience shipping complex features with dependencies or external stakeholders.
  • Experience diagnosing team dynamics issues and improving morale or execution.
  • Ability to foster inclusion and support the needs of marginalized individuals.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with engineers, peers, customers, or vendors.
  • Strong technical background with the ability to contribute to technical design and strategy discussions.
  • Thoughtful approach to using AI tools in engineering workflows, including awareness of risks and downsides.

Benefits

  • Base salary of $157,600 - $267,000 in most remote locations, or $197,000 - $267,000 in San Francisco and New York City.
