Description

  • Evolve processor, gateway, vault, checkout, and payment-rail integrations across providers including Adyen, NMI, VGS, Spreedly, and Stripe Connect.
  • Own payments product discovery, roadmap, specifications, implementation, rollout, and outcome metrics.
  • Design merchant-facing dashboards and agent experiences for routing, MID health, payment setup, and remediation.
  • Own tokenization and credential lifecycles across vaults, wallets, network tokens, provisioning, storage, updates, and expiry.
  • Lead payment-method portability, including stored credential and Apple Pay and Google Pay migrations between providers.
  • Improve authorization and approval rates through decline analysis, retry and cascading logic, 3DS, routing, BIN strategy, and card updater systems.
  • Build dispute, chargeback, fraud-notification, and card-brand monitoring infrastructure and connect its signals to payment operations.
  • Own payment reliability, including SLOs, telemetry, on-call, incident response, idempotency, reconciliation, and PCI operational practices.
  • Raise engineering standards through tested and documented code, ADRs/RFCs, and an agentic software development lifecycle.

Requirements

  • 10+ years building and shipping production software, with principal-level impact and current hands-on application coding.
  • Deep production payments experience at a PSP, gateway, vault, orchestration layer, or other payments-focused company.
  • Hands-on token vault experience and production ownership of Apple Pay and Google Pay provisioning, configuration, and domain verification.
  • Strong understanding of cryptograms, network tokens, network transaction IDs, DPAN/MPAN, and PCI scope.
  • Experience migrating stored credentials or wallet tokens between providers, vaults, or processors.
  • Experience integrating and operating multiple acquirers, gateways, or PSPs, including routing or cascading.
  • Demonstrated authorization and approval-rate ownership, including decline analysis, retry strategy, and 3DS.
  • Experience with disputes, chargebacks, representment, fraud alerts, TC40/SAFE reporting, and card-brand monitoring programs.
  • Knowledge of idempotent payment operations, ledger or system-of-record design, and settlement reconciliation.
  • Experience owning production payment incidents from detection through merchant communication and financial remediation.
  • Daily use of AI coding agents such as Claude Code or an equivalent setup.
  • Strong product judgment, merchant-facing communication, technical writing, and ability to raise engineering standards.
  • Preferred: payment orchestration or multi-PayFac experience, high-risk or direct-response merchants, recurring billing, alternative payment methods/BNPL, or PCI DSS v4 assessments.
