Description

  • Lead the platform’s technical vision, architecture, and long-term engineering strategy.
  • Design and evolve a reliable, observable platform supporting integrations with third-party manufacturer and clinic systems.
  • Architect data pipelines, APIs, and services for data exchange among veterinary clinics, pet owners, drug manufacturers, and industry partners.
  • Translate business requirements and customer needs into scalable system designs and technical delivery plans.
  • Drive end-to-end technical execution, including timelines, dependencies, cross-functional coordination, quality, and on-time delivery.
  • Provide architecture reviews and hands-on technical guidance for complex, multi-team initiatives.
  • Set technical standards, processes, and deliverables for a contractor team of three, with potential expansion to additional teams.
  • Build hands-on using AI coding agents such as Claude Code and establish effective team practices for their use.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to integrations, data quality, scalability, and system performance.
  • Evaluate technologies and industry trends in integrations, data platforms, APIs, and distributed systems to inform the roadmap.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years at Staff or Principal level or in equivalent technical leadership.
  • Hands-on experience with C#/.NET and cloud-native development, including building proofs of concept.
  • Experience designing distributed systems, APIs, and third-party integrations at scale.
  • Strong systems architecture expertise, including event-driven design, data modeling, and scalability tradeoffs.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into clear system designs and delivery plans.
  • Experience aligning multiple teams without formal authority and leading contractors through standards and processes.
  • Experience building a new product or system from scratch.
  • Daily hands-on experience with AI coding agents such as Claude Code, including applying them to design, development, and code review.
  • Experience in healthcare, veterinary technology, fintech, or SaaS is preferred.
