Description

  • Own the end-to-end technical architecture, design, engineering, and deployment of ScreamingFace capabilities.
  • Build and evolve the open-source fusion-model evaluation toolkit and public leaderboard.
  • Drive production readiness through monitoring, error handling, graceful degradation, and operational runbooks.
  • Set and model engineering standards for modularity, security, reliability, scalability, code quality, and delivery.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership through coding, code reviews, pairing, mentoring, and architectural guidance.
  • Collaborate on organization-wide technology strategy, shared platform primitives, and standard interfaces.
  • Partner with the product lead to develop feasible, scalable, architecturally sound roadmaps.
  • Own quarterly engineering goals and guide team delivery, resourcing, productivity, and morale.
  • Create technical documentation and processes that enable velocity and knowledge transfer.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building, shipping, and operating production systems at meaningful scale.
  • Hands-on experience building production software with AI coding agents such as Claude Code or Cursor and managing agentic workflows.
  • Strong Python 3.12+ proficiency, including FastAPI, asynchronous orchestration, typed SDK design, packaging, parsers, ASTs, and DAG execution.
  • Experience with distributed systems and API design for interfaces used by multiple independent teams.
  • Technical leadership experience introducing practices such as code review, testing, and CI/CD, plus mentoring or managing at least 2 engineers.
  • Ability to work effectively amid ambiguity and resource constraints with strong ownership and operational accountability.
  • Strong asynchronous written communication and ability to build trusted relationships across a 6+ hour time-zone spread.
  • Cross-functional communication skills for collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Practical RAG and information-retrieval experience with vector databases, retrieval pipelines, embedding strategies, and aggregation (preferred).
  • Experience with Vue 3/TypeScript, Rust/Tauri, cross-platform desktop applications, or networking/P2P applications (preferred).

Benefits

  • Annualized contract fee of $77,000-$128,000 USD, invoiced monthly.
  • Independent contractor engagement with an expected roughly full-time commitment and initial 12-month term.
