Description

  • Own the ScreamingFace squad’s end-to-end technical architecture across design, engineering, deployment, and roadmap evolution.
  • Build and ship production software while setting engineering standards through code contributions, reviews, pairing, and architectural guidance.
  • Drive production readiness through monitoring, error handling, graceful degradation, and operational runbooks.
  • Establish team practices for modularity, security, reliability, scalability, code quality, testing, and delivery.
  • Collaborate on organizational technology strategy, including shared platform primitives and standard interfaces.
  • Partner with the product lead to create feasible, scalable, and architecturally sound roadmaps.
  • Own delivery of quarterly engineering goals and manage resources for consistent, high-impact execution.
  • Guide team output, delivery, and morale by matching work to team members’ capacity, skills, and development goals.
  • Create technical documentation and processes that support rapid delivery and knowledge transfer.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building, shipping, and operating production systems at meaningful scale.
  • Hands-on experience building production software with AI coding agents such as Claude Code or Cursor and guiding team agentic workflows.
  • Strong Python 3.12+ proficiency, including FastAPI, async orchestration of concurrent model calls, typed SDK design and packaging, parsers, ASTs, and DAG execution.
  • Experience with distributed systems, API design, and evolving interfaces used by multiple independent teams.
  • Technical leadership experience introducing code review, testing, and CI/CD practices and mentoring or managing at least 2 engineers.
  • Ability to work effectively amid ambiguity and resource constraints, with strong ownership and operational accountability.
  • Strong asynchronous written communication and ability to build trusted relationships across a 6+ hour time-zone spread.
  • Cross-functional communication skills for collaborating with engineering and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Practical RAG and information retrieval experience with vector databases, retrieval pipelines, embedding strategies, and aggregation (preferred).
  • Experience with Vue 3/TypeScript, Rust/Tauri, cross-platform desktop applications, or networking/P2P applications (preferred).

Benefits

  • Annualized contract fee of $126,000–$188,000 USD, invoiced monthly.
