Description

  • Design, scale, and performance-tune GraphQL APIs, low-latency gRPC services, and SQL queries for wagering, transaction, ledger, compliance, and risk systems.
  • Own complex technical problems, develop proposals, and present solutions to leadership and partner teams.
  • Design, architect, and deliver features end-to-end in an agile/scrum environment.
  • Identify production bottlenecks and risks, and drive scalability and reliability improvements.
  • Configure and refine Datadog monitoring and alerting for owned systems.
  • Mentor engineers through technical specifications, pairing, and code reviews.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across business domains to deliver products, operational improvements, and cost efficiencies.
  • Integrate internal, third-party, legacy, and modern systems, including data migrations and supporting infrastructure.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and own production release cycles.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Strong foundation in computer science, including data structures, distributed systems, algorithms, and software design.
  • Experience operating production systems at scale, including load testing, tracing, and performance optimization.
  • Experience diagnosing CPU, I/O, memory, and latency regressions in high-throughput services.
  • Experience with modern web frameworks and API development, such as Phoenix, Ruby on Rails, FastAPI, Laravel, or Node.
  • 2+ years designing and evolving GraphQL schemas for iOS, Android, and web clients.
  • Experience building multi-client or white-label platforms with geo-based routing and per-client configuration.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL and MySQL, including normalization and denormalization.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and containerized service operations.
  • Proficiency with Git/GitHub, testing frameworks, background job systems, and event platforms such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS/SNS, or Pub/Sub; Elixir, accounting systems, agentic development tools, and domain-driven or hexagonal architecture are preferred.
