Description

  • Inspect, evaluate, diagnose, photograph, and document internal and external composite damage on wind turbine components.
  • Perform coating and structural repairs on blades, nacelles, and other composite structures.
  • Modify and repair fiberglass, carbon fiber, resin, and other composite materials.
  • Carry out sanding, cleaning, cutting, and lay-up work for composite repairs.
  • Work with site leadership to execute daily customer and contractual obligations.
  • Perform Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and lamination schedules.
  • Coordinate with the engineering support team on non-standard repairs.
  • Assist with service and repair work on other wind turbine generator components and related equipment when needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with composite materials in any industry.
  • Proven technical and team leadership skills.
  • Experience with supervised composite blade damage assessment.
  • Experience with lightning-damaged tip, carbon blade tip, and multi-shell tip replacement.
  • Experience with internal and external adhesive bonding.
  • Competence in repairing leading edge (LE) and trailing edge (TE) cracks.
  • Understanding of mix ratios for composite repair chemicals.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematic drawings.
  • Ability and willingness to climb a wind turbine vertically at least 300 feet.
  • Ability to maintain a weight between 120 and 280 pounds, including clothing and boots, for OSHA safety compliance.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing more than 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to work indoors or outdoors in adverse weather conditions with blowing pollen, dust, and grasses.
