Description

  • Own day-to-day technical execution for the squad supporting the merchant platform.
  • Lead solution design and break down complex problems into executable technical work.
  • Write code, participate actively in code reviews, and serve as a technical resource for the team.
  • Drive pragmatic architecture decisions and set technical direction for the squad’s work.
  • Ensure the team ships high-quality, scalable software that is built for reliability and long-term maintainability.
  • Mentor and develop engineers through pairing, feedback, and code reviews.
  • Partner with Engineering Leaders and Product Managers to translate merchant needs into actionable technical plans.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence and high standards across the team.
  • Support the onboarding, management, and retention of merchants through platform improvements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software development experience, preferably in Java or Go.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a tech lead or senior technical role.
  • Strong experience with Java and Go on the backend.
  • Experience with React on the frontend.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL for data storage.
  • Experience with AWS or GCP in the cloud.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, performance, and production reliability.
  • Ability to make pragmatic architecture decisions and build for scale without over-engineering.
  • Clear, candid, and constructive communication style.
  • English proficiency may be required to collaborate with colleagues, partners, and clients outside Quebec.
