Description

  • Lead up to approximately 10 full stack software engineers, data engineers, and GIS specialists across several cross-functional teams.
  • Support teams building both customer-facing product experiences and data processing pipelines for an ML-powered product.
  • Own the technical direction and delivery outcomes for your area.
  • Build high-performing teams by hiring talent and growing engineering capability through others.
  • Provide regular 1:1 coaching, feedback, and support to help team members thrive and develop.
  • Foster an inclusive, caring, and highly collaborative team culture.
  • Partner with product managers, machine learning engineers, and other stakeholders on data architecture and platform decisions.
  • Ensure the data architecture, pipelines, and data models support short-term needs and longer-term product, analytics, and machine learning goals.
  • Work with engineering leadership to improve data engineering practices and introduce capabilities that improve data access and reliability.
  • Dive deep technically when needed to unblock teams through architecture guidance, model review, and pipeline debugging.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience leading and managing full-stack or data engineers across multiple teams.
  • Experience working in a high-growth scaleup environment.
  • Product-minded approach with demonstrated business impact through data platforms and data-driven systems.
  • Experience with React/TypeScript, Python/FastAPI, PostgresDB, SQL, data pipelines, orchestration tools such as Airflow or Dagster, and data warehouses or lakehouses.
  • Comfort working in a build-it, run-it environment with GCP, Cloud Run, Grafana, and Kubernetes, or similar tools.
  • Understanding of data reliability, observability, and pipeline operations.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and coach engineers at all levels.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Passion for climate and for learning evolving technologies, especially at the intersection of agentic coding, engineering, and data infrastructure.
  • Experience with maps, imagery, or geospatial domains is a plus.
  • Candidates must live and work in one of the following countries: United States, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Ireland, Estonia, Portugal, France, Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark, or Canada.
  • Time zone alignment with Europe (GMT/WET, CET) or Eastern North America (NST, AST, EST) is required.
