Description

  • Manage end-to-end Australian audit engagements from planning through completion.
  • Prepare risk assessments, materiality calculations, audit programs, working papers, clearance files, and management letters.
  • Perform substantive testing, analytical procedures, internal control testing, and audit completion procedures.
  • Prepare general purpose and consolidated financial statements, disclosures, accounting policies, cash flow statements, and reconciliations.
  • Research technical accounting matters and apply AASB, ASA, Corporations Act, and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate audit findings, technical issues, and engagement risks with managers, partners, and client finance teams.
  • Manage multiple engagements, review junior team members’ work, and contribute to audit quality improvements.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Australian accounting, auditing, and regulatory developments.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of continuous, full-time, hands-on external audit experience for Australian entities within the last 4 years.
  • Hands-on experience preparing Tier 1 and Tier 2 General Purpose Financial Statements under AASB and the Corporations Act 2001.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB), Australian Auditing Standards (ASA), and Australian regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to independently design and execute substantive procedures across key audit cycles.
  • Experience conducting walkthroughs, documenting process narratives or flowcharts, and identifying control deficiencies.
  • Excellent written and spoken English for audit documentation and client communication.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, professional judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet statutory deadlines, and proactively escalate issues.
  • Proficiency with CaseWare, Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, and advanced Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with consolidated financial statements, ASIC compliance, junior staff mentoring, complex group structures, or multiple industries preferred.
