Description

Lead technical accounting work under US GAAP and statutory reporting, including coordination with the Tax Team on tax considerations.
Partner with internal teams, external partners, and consultants to advise on new transactions, evolving business arrangements, and complex accounting issues.
Create, develop, enhance, and maintain accounting policies that reflect current business practices and comply with accounting standards and regulations.
Oversee the application of new accounting pronouncements applicable to the company.
Work with external auditors on technical accounting matters.
Review financial disclosures in SEC and statutory filings related to accounting policies and new accounting pronouncements.
Build relationships with cross-functional teams to understand business goals and provide accounting guidance and process improvement recommendations.
Perform ad hoc technical accounting research and analysis to support special projects.
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements

6+ years of relevant experience.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or 4 years of relevant experience.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure.
2+ years of experience with US-based insurance companies.
2+ years of practical experience in financial reporting.
Experience in a similar position at a health insurance company (preferred).
Experience working collaboratively across the organization (preferred).
4+ years of experience with US-based insurance companies (preferred).
4+ years of practical experience in financial reporting (preferred).
6+ years in public accounting (preferred).
