Description

  • Review, draft, redline, and negotiate complex commercial, vendor, software, marketing, licensing, and partnership agreements.
  • Partner with business leaders to structure and execute legal agreements that support company objectives while managing risk.
  • Advise stakeholders on contractual structure, risk allocation, and negotiation strategy.
  • Provide legal guidance on privacy, data use, subscription, consumer protection, and technology-related issues.
  • Assess legal implications of new product features, workflows, and business initiatives.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and translate them into actionable recommendations.
  • Support litigation matters, discovery efforts, diligence, investigations, and special legal projects.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, CX, Partnerships, Marketing, Finance, and Operations as a trusted legal advisor.
  • Improve legal workflows, templates, documentation, and internal guidance to increase consistency and efficiency.
  • Leverage technology and AI tools where appropriate to improve legal research, drafting, and knowledge management.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
  • 8+ years of progressive legal experience in a law firm, in-house legal department, or both.
  • At least 3 years of in-house legal experience supporting a software, technology, consumer technology, digital product, SaaS, or similarly product-led business.
  • Experience independently drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising on complex commercial agreements.
  • Experience serving as a primary legal advisor and independently managing matters from issue identification through resolution.
  • Experience partnering directly with Product, Engineering, Operations, Partnerships, Finance, Marketing, Customer Experience, or similar functions.
  • Experience managing multiple legal matters simultaneously in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Strong legal judgment and ability to translate legal risk into practical business guidance with limited supervision.
  • Ability to build trust with technical and non-technical stakeholders through clear communication and collaboration.
  • Permanent U.S. work authorization is required.
  • Ability to travel biannually or quarterly for multiple days to a corporate office or strategic onX location.
  • Preferred: experience across both law firm and in-house environments.
  • Preferred: experience with product, privacy, data, subscription, or technology-related legal counseling.
  • Preferred: experience supporting high-growth technology or consumer technology companies.
  • Preferred: experience with litigation support, discovery, diligence, investigations, or strategic transactions.
  • Preferred: experience building legal playbooks, templates, guidance, or scalable processes.
  • Preferred: experience working in distributed or remote-first organizations.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $168,000 to $200,000 upon hire.
  • Annual bonus of 10% based on company performance.
