Description

  • Provide technical leadership for the design, validation, and optimization of utility-scale BESS projects.
  • Perform battery sizing and lifecycle modeling for energy storage systems.
  • Review and validate BESS vendor models and technology performance.
  • Validate inverter and PCS performance for utility-scale deployments.
  • Lead integration of EMS and Plant Controller systems.
  • Validate controls strategies and support SCADA integration and operational analytics.
  • Collaborate with EMS vendors, controls engineers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Use engineering analysis and operational tools to support system optimization.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of electrical engineering experience focused on battery systems, BESS vendor evaluation, inverter/PCS performance validation, and EMS or Plant Controller integration.
  • Deep knowledge of battery sizing, lifecycle modeling, controls strategy validation, and BESS vendor model review in utility-scale energy storage environments.
  • Experience with PSCAD and MATLAB.
  • Proven ability to lead EMS and Plant Controller integration efforts, including SCADA configuration and operational optimization.
  • Working knowledge of Python, VS Code, Jupyter Notebooks, and Git.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with EMS vendors, controls engineers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in utility-scale energy storage environments (preferred).
  • Remote role with 25-30% domestic and international travel required.
