Description

Provide technical leadership for the design, validation, and optimization of utility-scale BESS projects.
Perform battery sizing and lifecycle modeling for energy storage systems.
Review and validate BESS vendor models and technology performance.
Validate inverter and PCS performance for utility-scale deployments.
Lead integration of EMS and Plant Controller systems.
Validate controls strategies and support SCADA integration and operational analytics.
Collaborate with EMS vendors, controls engineers, and cross-functional teams.
Use engineering analysis and operational tools to support system optimization.

Requirements

8+ years of electrical engineering experience focused on battery systems, BESS vendor evaluation, inverter/PCS performance validation, and EMS or Plant Controller integration.
Deep knowledge of battery sizing, lifecycle modeling, controls strategy validation, and BESS vendor model review in utility-scale energy storage environments.
Experience with PSCAD and MATLAB.
Proven ability to lead EMS and Plant Controller integration efforts, including SCADA configuration and operational optimization.
Working knowledge of Python, VS Code, Jupyter Notebooks, and Git.
Ability to coordinate effectively with EMS vendors, controls engineers, and cross-functional teams.
Experience in utility-scale energy storage environments (preferred).
Remote role with 25-30% domestic and international travel required.
